ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the prefix cryo- is used to “cold temperatures” and when this comes to form the word cryogenic the practice of freezing recently deceased persons is inferred; attaching the suffix -ism to this word to form cryogenicism refers to a belief about this practice or a belief in this practice.
